oldest clothes meme
I happened to be wearing my oldest piece of clothing today:

I love this shirt (mainly for its ability to be scrunched in a corner of a drawer for weeks and still not need ironing). I think I got it about 10 years ago (for 15 little commonwealthlandian dollars), the first time my mum just gave me money for clothes rather than me going shopping with her. I'm not too good at trusting my own judgement, but in this case I think I did a good job. Sadly, it set a precedent for value and longevity in clothes purchases that I haven't been able to match since.
Of course, 10 years is nothing compared to some people's oldest clothes so I wasn't sure it was worth posting about. But then I remembered something that may even match some of Jo(e)'s entries:

These fabulously cosy pink socks were originally owned by my grandmother and then worn by my mum at boarding school in 1964 and they still have no actual holes. They are wearing a bit thin at the heels though. I think I need to learn how to darn...

40-year-old socks? That must set some sort of world's record!
those socks are rad.
they're bedsocks, so you're not meant to be walking around in them wearing out the soles. I think my tendency to stay in pyjamas all day probably hastened the wearing out, so I'll have to be careful with them.
There's something cool about fuzzy sock-wearing foot blogging.
I love the fuzzy pink socks. How cool to wear socks that your mother wore ....
