birthdays

I'd forgotten I share a birthday with my blog (C'landian time, at least). I've been doing this for a year now. When I started, I thought I'd probably not get around to posting after a few weeks. I also thought I'd write serious, thoughtful posts about real issues, not just self-indulgent navel gazing, but I was wrong on both counts.
I'm up to 225 posts and 4995 visitors (I just had a panic attack when I went to check the sitemeter count, because it said a computer at the lab was on my blog, but according to statcounter, it's my own computer at home... I was about ready to delete everything!). Statcounter says I've already passed 5000, but I'm sure a lot of those were just me, so I'll still award a prize for the 5000th sitemeter visitor.
Right from the beginning I was whining about being lonely and miserable, and not a lot has changed in my real life. I do feel less alone, though, thanks to you lovely people. I feel very lucky to be part of a blog community with people I like and admire so much. Thank you for all your comments and support!
