itchy
I'm weirdly itchy in random places: the back of my neck, under my hair, my eyes, my nose, one ankle, a knee, my side. I guess it's not a good sign that I'm hoping it's some kind of pox so I can avoid all the stuff I have to do... I don't have any spots, though, so I think I'm out of luck.

Yeah, I wouldn't get your hopes up too much for pox. I wouldn't mind getting a touch of plague to get me out of this presentation I have to do in a couple of weeks.
Ooo! Can I wish for a pox for you too? I just want to be able to say "A pox on thee!"
go ahead, sheepish. It might at least make the itching worth it. It never is anything useful, though - just enough to be irritating. My ear has started up now.
Jeremy, I think the lab next to us has some influenza, if that would be any use to you. Although, it's probably a wussy attenuated strain. I could probably find a tube of E. coli somewhere, too.
Do you ever get students deliberately infecting themselves with exciting laboratory diseases to get out of exams/presentations/grad school in general?
Because that would be cool.
"Oh no! An outbreak of bubonic plague! Where could it have come from?"
"That'll just be those damn students again, trying to get out of their finals."
In the therapist's waiting room yesterday, I sneezed. Loudly. (I do that.) I covered my face and everything, but a dude in the waiting room said, "At least the plaque no longer exists." I said, "But I covered my mouth! I just sneeze loudly." He said that it was a good ice breaker. Then we talked about things like why people say bless you when you sneeze and the bird flu and ... well, maybe you have the bird flu or the plague?
I always think I have the plague. I'm just fun like that. (Hope your pox gets better. Or worse. Whichever you like.)
Actually, people do still get the plague, but it's treatable now. They're pretty strict with the biosafety stuff if you're working with anything serious (ie that can actually infect humans and cause any remotely serious illness). Otherwise they probably would have problems.
Sadly, my pox stopped itching by the time I woke up.
Oh, if it is contagious, can I please come be near you? Oh please, please, please????
