ow

I didn't realise capsaicin could affect skin as badly as taste buds. I was chopping chili peppers this morning and, even though I washed my hands afterwards, my fingertips are still burning. I've put insect-bite-soothing cream on them, which helped a bit, but they still hurt. Would soaking my fingers in milk work better, do you think?

That happened to me - but the oil got into a cut. My roommate ended up calling "ask a nurse" - and I can't remember what she said to do (I just remember her asking my roommate if I was screaming from pain). I didn't soak anything in milk though. Are you still in pain? Did you try the milk?

When do we get another book review post?

I don't even have any cuts on my fingers, and my whole fingertips hurt. I scrubbed my fingers with greasy moisturiser, since capsaicin is fat-soluble, which helped. Now they're just tingly.

I have a couple of draft book posts, but I haven't been reading a lot lately.

That only worked for a short time, actually, then the tingly turned back into pain. Pressure (eg from typing) helps, too, so maybe I'll get to the book posts after I finish the long post I'm on at the moment :)

I've done the hand in milk thing, adding icecubes to keep it cool. Not sure whether it was the milk or the icecubes or the combination of both, or just soaking until my fingers were beyond shrivelled, but the pain went away when my fingers were immersed and stayed away after they were immersed for what seemed like several hours, but maybe it was only two.

Hope it's better by now--not sure about the whole time diff. thing, but I guess it's the next day by now.

Maybe I should've tried the milk (the same thing with water didn't work). They did stop hurting eventually, though.
