shrinky, back me up!

Apparently, Jeremy's hatred for the penultimate page of The Boy Detective Fails is strong enough to turn our disagreement into a public dispute. He has posted the relevant page here, so you can make up your own mind. I still say it's not bad enough to justify not reading the book, or even blacking out that page before you start. What do you think? Jeremy also has an extract from earlier in the book so you can judge the quality of the rest of it.

Don't judge a book by its penultimate page.

That said, it wasn't my favorite page. I mean, c'mon, the whole book had a self-conscious cuteness about it. I still loved it.

La la la la, I'm not listening to naysayers.

To be clear, I was very fond of the book, especially as it was impetus for taking on "boy detective" as one of my identities.

Shrinky, yeah, I'm not denying the self-conscious cuteness.

Jeremy, so why the big dispute?
