I've figured out how to enjoy ice cream in winter

  1. put on fleecy tracksuit pants and jumper
  2. get into bed, under a down quilt
  3. work (or play Scrabble) on your laptop for several hours
  4. when you start feeling overheated, quickly run to the kitchen, grab the ice cream and get back into bed
  5. eat and enjoy!

I'm not sure my laptop is very happy about being used as a heater, but I'm nice and cosy, even after eating yummy s'mores ice cream.

Brilliant! Or, secret option 2: Come visit your friend Luckybuzz where it's ice cream weather all damn year. :)

There are lots of great ways to enjoy ice cream in winter. My favourites are putting a big dollop in the top of a hot chocolate, and having it with hot fruit pies, or with chocolate pudding.

Your way sounds like fun, too.

In other news, I wish my scrabble rack looked like the word verification I just got. I'd be racking up the points so fast...

I like that option, Luckybuzz!

Styley, that doesn't work so well for ice cream flavours that are best on their own, unfortunately. This one is chocolate with marshmallows and biscuits and something else I've forgotten in it. But I may have to get some vanilla ice cream to try your suggestions! Do you have a good chocolate pudding recipe?

Chocolate ice cream with marshmallows sounds ideal for hot chocolate! As for chocolate pudding: the Edmonds Chocolate Self-Saucing Pudding is the only one NZers are allowed to bake, otherwise they lose their citizenship:

Beat 100g butter, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla together. Fold in 1 1/4 cups of flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 3 Tb cocoa.

Spoon mixture into a greased ovenproof dish. Sprinkle on top a mixture of 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 Tb cornflour, 1/4 cup cocoa. Carefully pour 2 cups of boiling water over the back of a spoon onto the pudding while singing God Defend New Zealand.

Bake at 180 C for 35 minutes or until pudding springs back when lightly touched.

Serves 6 normal people, or half a Geekman.
